Singapore, 11 July 2026 – More than 680 participants came together for an inspiring intergenerational community event co-organised by the International Leading Education Alliance (ILEA) and Kampung Senang Charity and Education Foundation, demonstrating how healthy lifestyle education can be translated into meaningful community action.

The event brought together 180 youths, 400 Pioneer Generation seniors, and 100 Healthy Lifestyle Coach Certification (HLCC) Ambassadors and volunteers, creating a vibrant platform where different generations learned, interacted, and served one another.

The event opened with an inspiring address by Dr Eric Wu, Education Advisor to UNESCO International Centre for Higher Education Innovation (UNESCO-ICHEI). In his opening remarks, Dr Wu highlighted the importance of cultivating healthy lifestyles through education and community engagement, encouraging participants to become active contributors to healthier and more resilient communities.

The organisers were also honoured to welcome Cao Zi’an, Head of the Operations Center of the International Institute for Online Education (IIOE) under the UNESCO International Centre for Higher Education Innovation (UNESCO-ICHEI). In his address, Mr Cao shared how healthy lifestyle and education innovation can be integrated into our daily lives, schools, and communities in today’s digital and AI era. He introduced IIOE as an international platform connecting 119 member higher education institutions across 48 countries, and shared IIOE’s vision of working with ILEA to integrate education, technology, and healthy lifestyle initiatives to cultivate a new generation of talent equipped to meet future social and economic needs.

At the heart of the event was the vision of bringing healthy lifestyle practices into the community while empowering young people to build meaningful relationships with Singapore’s Pioneer Generation. Through guided conversations, interactive activities, and shared learning experiences, youths had the opportunity to serve, communicate with, and learn from the seniors.

A key highlight of the programme was the appointment of selected HLCC students, who began their Healthy Lifestyle Coach Certification journey in 2025, as official HLCC Ambassadors. Having completed their foundational healthy lifestyle training, these ambassadors translated classroom learning into real community impact by guiding both youths and seniors throughout the event.

The HLCC Ambassadors demonstrated practical leadership by facilitating discussions on healthy living, encouraging healthy habits, and helping bridge communication across different generations. They also mentored youths on how to engage respectfully and meaningfully with the Pioneer Generation, reinforcing that healthy communities are built not only through knowledge but also through compassion, communication, and service.

Participants benefited from two expert panel discussions that explored healthy living from complementary perspectives. Medical professionals shared evidence-based approaches to disease prevention and healthy ageing, while Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioners provided insights into holistic wellness and maintaining balance for long-term health. Together, the sessions offered participants a comprehensive understanding of healthy lifestyle practices.

Beyond physical health, participants also explored the connection between wellbeing and the arts through a session on how music can promote healing and emotional wellness, gaining a deeper appreciation of music’s role in supporting mental and emotional health.

Healthy eating was another major focus of the event. Participants learned about Singapore’s Healthy Plate concept before taking part in interactive games that challenged them to identify and categorise different foods according to a balanced meal comprising 50% vegetables, 25% whole grains, and 25% healthy protein sources. The hands-on activities made nutrition education engaging and memorable for participants of all ages.

Putting their learning into practice, the youths also demonstrated mindfulness and care by assisting the Pioneer Generation seniors in thoughtfully placing their plates and utensils before lunch. This simple yet meaningful activity encouraged respect, attentiveness, and service, while fostering warm intergenerational interactions.

The event was further enlivened by vibrant performances from university students, creating a joyful atmosphere that celebrated community spirit and intergenerational connection.

To encourage continued learning beyond the event, youths were invited to participate in the “Love Begins with Wellbeing” initiative by watching a series of educational videos on healthy lifestyle. They were then challenged to create their own “Love Tracks” videos, demonstrating how they had applied the healthy lifestyle principles in their own lives or used the knowledge to support their friends, families, and communities. The competition encouraged participants to transform learning into action, with eight outstanding youths receiving cash prizes for their creative and impactful submissions.

The event reflects ILEA’s commitment to developing a new generation of healthy lifestyle leaders through the HLCC programme. By equipping ambassadors with evidence-based health knowledge and opportunities for real-world community engagement, the programme enables participants to become advocates for healthier living while strengthening intergenerational bonds across Singapore.

The collaboration between ILEA, Kampung Senang Charity and Education Foundation, UNESCO-ICHEI, and IIOE also demonstrates a shared commitment to advancing healthy lifestyles through education, digital innovation, and community partnerships. Together, these efforts seek to empower individuals of all ages to embrace healthier living while preparing future generations with the knowledge, skills, and values needed to thrive in an AI-enabled world.

Through initiatives like this, healthy lifestyle education extends beyond the classroom into homes, neighbourhoods, and communities—empowering individuals to improve their own wellbeing while inspiring others to do the same.
